If you're looking at this Janome Overlocker / Coverstitch Combo, chances are...

  • You've outgrown using twin needles on your machine to mock coverstitching.
  • You sew a lot of knit fabric, and need profession quality seams that holds well.
  • You NEED a coverstitch machine AND an overlocker - but there's only room for one machine.

Feeling nervous because you're unfamiliar with an ovolocker that also does coverstitch? You're not alone...

"Initially I was tempted to buy the new automatic air threading Janome overlocker. But I also need a cover stitch machine, and getting both the Janome AT2000D & CoverPro wasn't an option.

After doing lots of research I bought the 1200D. So glad I did.

It might look complex but the instruction book tells you everything you need to know (there's a DVD too).

Once you get the hang of it, you'd be surprised to find it quite easy to thread and use, and feels like such a good sturdy machine that overlocks perfectly, with the bonus of having a lot of coverstitch functions that aren't normally available for domenstic machines. That's very good value and I know it will last for many years of happy sewing.

This wonderful machine is a pleasure to use, and I just love how good it looks next to my Janome memory craft without taking too much room."

- Susan, a Happy Customer

Of all the machines I've used over the years, Janome is My Favourite Domestic Sewing Brand By Far - in fact, the only brand I  trust & recommend to everyone.

Unlike many other sewing machine brands - Janome makes ALL of their machines in their  own factories. They don't contract out the manufacturing, and never cut corners just to save a buck.

Janome 1200D overlocker & coverstitch combo are 3 machines in one.

  1. Overlocks in 2, 3, 4, or 5 threads
  2. Cover Stitchs with 2 or 3 needle in three different widths
  3. Top Cover Hems with 2 or 3 needle in three different widths

Top Cover Hem is different to standrad coverstitch.

Normally seen in compression style sportswear, it's a professional finish where an additional thread is woven through a 3 needle Cover stitch. This gives a stronger seam finish normally only available as a separate professional machine that does nothing else. Until now.

Three Machine in ONE. Really?
YES. Grab one & Find out for yourself.

Your new 1200D will soon become your best friend for creating commercial style finishing - especially for knit fabrics.

Let's Find Out  Why You'll LOVE this Machine....

  • PERFECT FOR ACTIVEWEAR

Fitness, dance, yoga, and gymnastics outfits are perfect projects for a 1200D overlock & coverstitch combo. Use the Triple Coverstitch to replicate a flatloack seam. Apply elastic with your overlocker and fold it to create a casing - and finish by encasing the elastic with CoverPro with a beautifully professional finish – all in one pass.

Save money &  Create your own activewear - so long, Lulu Lemon!

  • QUICK REFERENCE CHART

Located inside the front of the machine for easy access, this full colour reference guide helps you adjust for a soft or tighter stitch without searching through the manual.

The chart clearly displays available stitches, and shows the tension settings for both soft and tighter seams. A colour-coded threading chart located in the looper area means guess-free and super quick threading.

It's handy to have help - exactly where you need it most.

  • VERSATILE  STITCH FUNCTIONS

1200D is one of the MOST versatile machines, incorporating many flatlock, blanket and overlock stitches, as well as the chain and coverstitch. Explor all the possibilities right away -  even if you're an absolute beginner!

  • SUPERIOR NEEDLE SYSTEM

Like industrial machines, CoverPro uses the Schmetz ELX705 needle system (but takes all brands of needles). This special needle has a long groove front and back. It's more reliable than the HAX1SP needle - which is essentially designed for overlockers only.

Stick to the right type of needles and you can  always enjoy top-quality professional finish!

  • EASY CONVERSION - NO PLATE CHANGE

You won't need to change the needle plate or foot for a rolled hem, and the upper looper system is easily converted for a cover hem or top cover hem. Saves you time and hassle.

  • AUTO TENSION

The 1200D automatically selects the perfect tension settings for each stitch so you can sew with comfort and confidence. No worries at all!

  • ONE HAND THREAD CUTTER

Just like a sewing machine, you can clip your thread tails in one neat and easy motion. It's the little thing that makes your sewing session more  efficient and  productive.

Sounds Perfect, Right?
Get it Now & Get Results Next!

What is Coverstitch, exactly?

Coverstitch is everywhere. Turn your t-shirt inside out now.

Chances are -  your hem has two rows of stitching on the right side, and the revers side looks a bit like regular overlocking between the two rows of stitches. Right?

That, is your coverstitch. That's what finishes stretch garments properly. Janome CoverPro is a classic example of a purpose-built coverstitch machine.

What is Top Cover Hem, then?

Take a look at your active sportswear, such as compression tights.

Instead of two rows of stitching on one side and coverstitch on the other side, both front and back look the same - like cover stitching on BOTH sides.

This is achieved by an additional thread woven through a 3 needle cover stitch - which is both decorative, functional, and sits flat. Top cover hem is normally a stand-alone machine that does just this.

What the rag trade professionals do...

When professionals in the fashion industry finish a garment, they don’t just hem it on any old sewing machine. Normally there might be a few machines involved to do specific jobs.

Once the garment is sewn and overlocked, they use either a Coverstitch or Top Coverhem machine to finish the hems - because the result is a sturdy hem that's neat while maintaining stretch from the fabric for practicality. Always the preferred finish for active sportswear.

Does that mean you need THREE machines...?

Nope. Keep reading...

Much more than a standard overlocker - Janome 1200D is 3 machines in 1.

It's a high-speed, long arm, heavy-duty coverstitch machine that looks and operates more similarly to a sewing machine - except it has multiple cones of threads and takes up to three needles.

It overlockes with a wide variety of overlock stitches, using 2, 3, 4 or 5 cones of threads - so you can customise your project with a perfect seam finish that best suits your fabric!

Best of all, it does Top Cover Hem, which is a much stronger seam finish where an additional thread is woven through the 3 thread cover stitch - the stitch looks the same on both sides. You'll normally find this on compression activewear. Now you don't need another machine to achive this, because 1200D does it all!

Imagine: you'll be able to replicate all of the commercial garment finishing - QuciklyEasily - so that your handmade clothes won't look "homemade"!

Imagine the possibilities...

You KNOW you're creative, and you LOVE to sew.

Imagine arming yourself with your new Janome 1200D to happily work along side your sewing machine....

Because achieving professional finish no longer takes lots of different machines!

You will find it easy to use and reliable - that means you can complete projects quickly and effortlessly , so you can show everyone your creation on the weekend!

 Did You Know..?

Here is a little-known feature that makes Janome 1200D even more awesome...

The (True) Blanket Stitch

The 1200D is capable of something few domestic machines can achieve: the blanket stitch.

Not to be confused with the applique type of blanket stitch or buttonhole stitch patterns found in sewing machines - this finish actually looks like how traditional blankets edges.

Use this stitch for hemming and finishing the edges of throws and other blankets. I can see it on edges of ponchos and other woollen garments, perhaps using a heavier thread in a contrast colour.

Imagine What You Can Make With This Function...

Like all Janomes, your1200D is designed to withstand daily usage.

It produces beautiful Top Cover Hem, 5, 4, 3 or 2 thread overlocking stitches, and 3 or 2 thread cover stitches over and over again - thanks to the precise stitch mechanism Janome is known for, you can now create professional results every single day!

What's more - it doesn't take up much of your precious space, so you can easily fit it in your sewing room, or even take it with you to sewing classes!

Apart from giving you perfect results, you can achived them FAST - at 1300 stitches per minute. Get the job done so you can wear it right away!

An all-rounder for proffessional finishing, the Janome 1200D Coverstitch Overlock Combo is a simple joy to operate, and gives you satisfying results!

Choose from these 20 stitch variations to tailor-suit your garment:

  • SAFETY 4-THREAD STITCH

An overlock stitch that employs two needles. The stitc stretches without breaking. The second needle thread reinforces the durability and strength of the stitch, but the stitch retains its elasticity.

    Common Uses
    • Excellent for sewing knit garments.
    • Appropriate for loose fitting woven garments.

  • STRETCH KNIT STITCH

The same characteristics as the Safety 4-Thread stitch. The  Stretch Knit Stitch program uses the differential feed and stitch length settings to prevent knitwear from stretching while sewing.

    Common Uses
    • Apply ribbing to knit necklines, cuffs or waistbands.
    • Garment construction on sweater knits.

  • 5-THREAD STITCH

A true 5-thread industrial stitch consists of two stitches sewn simultaneously. 2 threads form the chainstitch and 3 threads form the overlock. This stitch is used for medium to heavyweight woven fabrics.

    Common Uses
    • Perfect for garment construction on woven fabrics.
    • Excellent for drapes

  • 3-THREAD STITCH WIDE

Three threads lock together on the fabric edge forming a balanced stitch. The overlock stitch is suitable for medium to heavyweight fabrics.

    Common Uses
    • Garment construction on knitwear.
    • Edge finish on single layer of fabric.

  • OVERLOCK 3

The same characteristics as the 3-Thread Wide. This narrower version is suitable for light to medium weight fabrics.

    Common Uses
    • Garment construction on lingerie.
    • Edge finish on single layer of fabric.

  • FLATLOCK 3

Three threads form an unbalanced stitch that can be pulled open into a flat seam. The seam resembles the top stitch seen on ready-to-wear sweatshirts and knit sportswear.

    Common Uses
    • Garment construction on bulky knitwear.
    • Decorative accent

  • BLANKET STITCH

An edge finish that uses decorative thread in the needle. The upper and lower looper threads pull the needle thread so it is visible on both the top and underside of the fabric.

    Common Uses
    • Edge finish for a single layer of fabric like a blanket or felted scarf.
    • Decorative accent.

  • FLATLOCK 2

Using two threads, the needle and lower looper threads form a stitch that can be pulled flat.

    Common Uses
    • Garment construction on undergarments.
    • Hemming technique.

  • OVERCAST 2

The needle and lower looper threads form an edge finish that is lightweight and flat.

    Common Uses
    • Finish an open seam edge on lightweight fabrics.

  • NARROW HEM 3

Three threads form a balanced stitch that is a great for a narrow edge finish.

    Common Uses
    • Hemming on scarves, napkins and ruffles.
    • Garment construction on undergarments made of lightweight knit fabrics.

  • ROLLED HEM 3

Three threads form an unbalanced stitch - which is perfect to creat a rolled hem. When the stitch is formed, the fabric is rolled inside the stitch.

    Common Uses
    • Excellent for sewing knit garments.
    • Appropriate for loose fitting woven garments.

  • ROLLED HEM 2

The needle and lower looper threads form a stitch that rolls the fabric before encasing the edge.

    Common Uses
    • Since there are only 2 threads, the result is lighter and finer than Rolled Hem 3. This is suitable for lightweight fabrics like chiffon and bridal veiling edging.

  • STRETCH WRAPPED

A stretch stitch that uses two needles and the lower looper. This stitch provides the maximum stretch; the second needle thread increases the stitch’s durability.

    Common Uses
    • Garment construction on exercise and swimwear.

  • TRIPLE COVER HEM

The Triple Cover Hem measures 5.0 mm in width. It uses three needles and the chain looper to form 3 lines of what looks like parallel straight stitches.

    Common Uses
    • Hem finish.
    • Topstitching.
    • Belt loops.

  • COVER HEM WIDE

A version of the cover hem that measures 5.0 mm in width. The garment industry commonly uses this wider width on knitwear.

    Common Uses
    • Hem finish.
    • Topstitching.
    • Belt loops.

  • COVER HEM NARROW

The cover hem measures 2.5 mm in width. It uses two needles and the chain looper to form what look like parallel straight stitches.

    Common Uses
    • Hem finish on knit fabrics.
    • Topstitching.
    • Pintucks.

  • CHAINSTITCH

Normally found on industrial machines only, a 2-thread chainstitch or double chainstitch uses one needle and the chain looper to form a straight stitch. The chainstitch is stable for stretch fabrics.

    Common Uses
    • Garment construction on woven fabrics to create an open seam allowance.
    • Sew knitwear together where elasticity is required.
    • Sew on bias tape.

  • TOP COVER STITCHES (3  Types)

Choose from Triple, Wide, and Narrow, this stitch is also know as "Top Cover Hem" normally  produced by industrial machines. This type topstitch is both decorative and strong, and appears the same from both sides. The Top Cover Stitch measures 5.0 mm or 2.5 mm in width. It uses two or three needles, top cover “hook” and the chain looper to form a cover hem with loops on both the top and bottom side of the fabric.

    Common Uses
    • Hem finish on light to medium weight fabrics.
    • Topstitching light to medium weight fabrics.

You ask -  "Wow. Would I know how to do all that..?"

YES. Of course you can.

Don't let the ability of this machine scare you. Because this list of stitch functions will become part of the garment finishings you can easily achive in time.

You don't have to know them all by heart from Day 1, because it's ALL included in the instruction book. Beside, there's a DVD that you can refer to any time.

Everything on hand is designed to make YOUR life easy - so you can simply sew :-)

Still Deciding?

Here's what one (of many) happy customers had to say after purchasing their Janome 1200D Professional Overlocker Coverstitch Combo:

"I've been sewing for quite some time though I'm new to the overlocker side of things. I knew I need to invest in an overlocker but I also want a machine that ca do cover stitch for professional finishes for garments I want to make.

Since I couldn't justify separate overlocker and cover stitch machines because of space and budget, I bought this machine as it does all the stitches I want in just one machine. I'd say I made the right choice.

Still, this machine might seem overwhelming at first, especially for the newbies.

If you're just a beginner, it's best to spend time with the instruction manual and DVD. Have a go and all will make sense, because this machine comes complete with your "training manual" and there is a quick reference guide that you can refer to daily.

And, don't let threading worry you. It's really not difficult at all if you spend time with the manual and practice, practice, practice.

The only threading I found challenging is the chain/cover stitch looper, but it's not that hard either. Make sure you have good lighting in your work area and use the tweezers provided. Oh, and after threading, make sure you set the tension and other dials as indicated in the manual. When in doubt, watch the DVD.

I haven't even tried all of the functions yet, and I've already got so much done. I'm looking forward to see what else I can do with this machine."

Not All Sewing Machines Are Made Equal...

Take a peek: an X-Ray view if you will.

    As a demonstration - take a look inside a Janome JR1012 (for example) with a see-through exterior.

You can easily see - inside every Janome there is REAL metal (aluminium die-cast to be exact) that can be found in even the most inexpensive, entry level Janome.

The die-cast aluminium frame in a Janome provides the strength and stability required for the precise action of the sewing machine needle and mechanism.

The exterior is just that - a shell - and not part of the structure of the machine.

Unfortunately there are other brands of sewing machine on the market in Australia right now that have no internal frame (let along metal). It means the components are merely attached to the outer plastic shell of the machine. There is simply not enough rigidity for high speed movements!

With Janome, there is always inner structrual support  which means your sewing machine performs better, and it lasts longer. Buy Well, Buy Once.

    So if You're Ready....
All You Need to Do is Place Your Order.

    Here's a Review by Sew4Home:

"The Janome 1200D is a 2,3,4,5 thread serger / overlocker.

Along with all the standard serger features mentioned above (plus some not mentioned), this machine offers a cover stitch and a top cover stitch. These are high-end options, which guarantee amazing results.

A 5-thread serger will do a chain stitch, which is a popular finishing / hemming stitch in professionally made drapes. A cover stitch is a very versatile stitch that can be used for hemming, gathering, or embellishment.

The 1200D also offers automatic tension – a truly amazing and useful feature for any level sewer. It has an easy to understand stitch selection guide, and based on your chosen stitch, the machine will adjust the tension for perfect results every time.

The 1200D also have a tremendous feature for home dec sewing: the blanket stitch.

You can use this stitch for hemming and finishing the edges of throws and other blankets. Along with the wide array of other features on this model, the blanket stitch is a real treat."

What sort of thread does this machine take?
Do I need to buy cones of thread, or can I use my normal spools?

    It's up to you.

This machine takes cones or spools, so you can either use your sewing threads, or specialty threads on cones for overlockers.

See how the cone holders can be removed easily off the spool pins, which allows for smaller spools of thread to be used.

The main thing to keep in mind is whether your thread is suitable to the fabric you are using. When in doubt, do a little test on a scrap of the fabric you intend to use.

Sounds Good - but why wouldn't I buy directly from Janome?

    Great question!

Here's something most people didn't know: Janome Australia doesn't deal directly with the public. Neither does Janome USA or Janome UK.

Actually, the authentic Janome website won't let you place orders. You can find all sorts of information there, but you won't find an "Add to Cart" button if you're looking at the real deal.

In case you come across any website with "Janome" in the name that you could buy from - chances are, you've found someone who'd like you to think that you're dealing directly with Janome Australia themselves. Which isn't the case.

Think about it for a second: when someone is prepared to hide the truth about who they really are, what else might they be hiding?

Check Out What Other Happy Janome CoverPro Owners Say About Their machines...

"This was my first overlocker and I chose it because it also does cover stitch. Though I must admit I was a bit unsure at first based on some of the online reviews.

While many thought that this machine isn't for first first-timers, I didn't have any problems. All I did was going through the instruction provided for threading, then I tried a couple of stitches and I was good to go.

Take your time - I set aside for a few hours and studied the manual, took a good look at the inside of the machine, followed the colour-coded guides for threading and had no problem. The DVD was helpful and you can also find things on YouTube.

It comes with several different feet and other accessories. Once you get the hang of threading the loopers, it's a breeze. Now that I have used it to complete a few garments, I can use the overlock, flatlock, and coverstitch functions quite confidently.

I can't tell you how this machine compares to other normal overlocker since I haven't used any others, but I didn't find it too difficult or complicated. I am extremely happy with my purchase so far. And it works out better then buying more than 2 or 3 machines when this one does it all."

This machine is the best thing I've bought. It's super easy to thread, and it does much more than any other overlocker. The coverstitch is a must have for stretch fabric. Who needs an industrial machine when you havea Janome that does it all."

    - Michelle, a Happy Customer

The perfect overlocker in so many ways!

While a new addition to my sewing room, I've had the previous model for a couple of years and have found it to be the perfect overlocker for what I need, so I had no hesitation to buy the 1200D (sight unseen) when upgrading the sewing room, and of course, it hasn't disappointed.

Upon unpacking this machine I ran a few short test strips then dived in and made a knit top...perfection!! just as I expected this baby sailed through this project as expected so I wasn't disappointed at all. Next project is on the cutting table and there are several more in the queue.

For anyone having threading problems, including breakages, do yourself a favour, pour a beverage of choice (coffee or tea, of course!) and sit down with the owners manual and thread the machine 'exactly' how it's shown. All overlockers need to be threaded in a certain order otherwise there will be thread breakages....but...if you suffer a breakage, pull 'all' thread out of the machine and start again because it broke for a reason, so don't tie off and run with the same problem. That only leads to more frustration!

Missing stitches are caused by incorrect needles and/or tension and the tension guide is just that...a guide!! your fabric might be completely different from what the manufacturer used to set those guides, so don't hesitate to adjust the tension.

The 1200D is super easy to thread, a robust, high speed machine with such a variety of options that it will find a place in so many sewing rooms and be well used and liked.

I would also highly recommend this machine to any skill level but if you are a new overlocker owner, just take your time to learn this wonderful machine and all it can do. You won't be disappointed!

    Delivery

Now, Let's Get Your Order On Its Way To You!

How long will it take to receive my order?

All fully paid orders placed by 5pm Monday to Thursday will be processed overnight and ready to send by our warehouse - normally the next day or following business day.

Orders placed on Friday and Weekends will be processed on Sunday night - because our warehouse operates Monday to Friday except Public Holidays.

Once it leaves our warehouse, the actual time frame is up to the delivery services. This can vary depending on your location and road conditions.

Any delivery time estimates shown are estimates only - so please use it as a guide line.

You'll receive a few email updates from our system as your order progresses, so please stay tuned on these!

secure paymentHow will my order be sent?

We use a dispatch system that works out the most efficient way to send your order.

This way the postage works out fair and reasonable, and your parcel reaches you quickly as well - because we know you can't wait!

That means your parcel may reach you by either Courier or Aust Post.

In general, larger items tend to be delivered by couriers, while small items tend to go by Aust Post.

    How is my postage calculated?

    Great question.

Depending on weight and dimension, some times we are able to do Flat Rate across Australia, so the postage is the same no matter where you are.

Other times we use the Built-in Calculated system provided by Aust Post, and your postage is calculated based on YOUR location.

Can I get it delivered to my P.O. Box?

Depends on the item (and its dimensions), because Aust Post have size restrictions and couriers are NOT allowed to deliver to a P.O. Box.

Please check with us when in doubt.

If you have nominated a P.O. box, and the item is within Aust Post size, then it will go by Aust Post. Most of the time, this is the case.

When your item is too big, or being sent directly from our supplier, then we need you to provide a physical address so we can send a courier.

Can I get my order sent to a different delivery address?

    Your sure can!

When you check out, you can choose to ship your order to your billing address or a different address.

Simply choose the second option, and then fill in the shipping address of where you want you parcel sent.

Please double check we have Your Correct Address so your order can find its way to you!

What if courier services are not available in my area?

Some locations are outside of courier services....

In these cases we CAN arrange for your order to be deliverd to your local post office.

But please provide us with a street address (street number & name) - even if it is the only Post Office in town - as if it is an office address.

A phone number would help too - this will avoid delays.

What if I need my order urgently?

No worries, we will do our best. Just let us know.

Please give us as much notice as possible - especially for special occasions like birthdays!

In most cases, we CAN arrange an upgrade from Regular Post to Express Post for a little extra.

Please contact us first so we can update your invoice to show the correct amount.

    Do you offer combine shipping?
I want to order more than one item...

Sure! Please "Add to Cart" for all the items you want and let the system work it out for you.

If you're unsure, let us know. A quick message is all we need.

This way we can double check the postage for you. Simple!

Can I pick up my order?

No. Sorry - unless you're picking up furniture directly from our supplier.

Because most of our items are located in a commercial warehouse - with NO public acess.

There is no shop front - because that's how we can pass on the savings to you!

Some useful things you might want to know:

      • Combined Shipping - We are happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases based on the combined weight and dimensions of your items, so add what you like to cart as you go, and check out our shop to see what else you like... you never know what you might find!

      • All items we sell are Stored in a Clean and Smoke Free Environment so You can Rest Asured they will be In Top Condition when they arrive at your place.

      • Packaging & Sending - All your items will be packed well and we do everything we can to make sure you package arrives safely. In the unlikely event something does go wrong with your package, please contact us via email. We do our best to resolve any concerns.

      • Packaging Materials - We endeavour to support "green policies" and recycle clean packaging materials whenever possible. Brand names on packaging material may not necessarily match the content.

    !!! IMPORTANT !!!
The Courier Needs Your Phone Number

When you're completing check-out please make sure your best day time phone number is included - because the courier requires a phone number.

Generally they may never ring you -  and they tend to just turn up anyway. But their office needs to have your phone number on file for "just-in-case".

If you have any special delivery instructions, please let us know.

It is best to providing these details by sending us a quick message - this means your parcel will be dispatched to you faster.
