"Now that I've used the foot I understand why it's so useful. I've just finished my FIRST QUILT EVER and it looks AMAZING.
The 'ditch' stitching is neatly tucked into the joined seams. You can't even see them on the face of the quilt, but the quilt has that distinctive 'quilted' look. I don't know how else to put it but I LOVE it.
Next I'm going to try the Darning foot for free-motion quilting. I'can't wait!!"

Is this a Genuine Janome Foot?
Unlike some others in the market, this foot is made by the same people that makes Janome sewing machine parts. At the same factory where Janome gets their parts made and packaged - located only a few minutes down the road from Janome's own factory.
This company is a third-generation family business that specialises in presser feet and parts. They are one of the few certified makers for Janome, Brother, Singer, Pfaff and others. If Janome and other brands can trust them - you can trust the quality too.
I've personally visited the factory to verify for myself. I was genuinely impressed because of their a high quality assurance standard - specified by Janome Japan - the parent company of Janome Australia.
The only difference is in the packaging. I'm calling mine "generic" because we had ours packaged under our own brand.
This means I'm 100% happy and confident that you and your sewing machine are in safe hands - because I recommend this foot to all my students, and use it for my own sewing too!
So do our happy customers - here's just one of many reviews:
Just want to say a Huge belated 'Thank You'.... I waited to try your foot first... because I previously bought a 'cheap' (very cheap) foot a few weeks ago elsewhere... and it broke after a few uses.
Your foot feels solid and seems much better quality...and works a lot smoother...and you posted it out so fast I got my project finished quickly....so Thank You!!"

Also known as a "Stitch-in-the-Ditch Foot", this quarter inch foot has ALL metal construction for durability, and smooth edges that does not snag your fabric... sewing with an accurate seam has NEVER been so easy!
This Quit-in-the-Ditch Foot is ideal for precision quilting, embellishment, and edge-joining.
A very useful addition to your sewing tool box when wanting a perfectly straight "stitch in the ditch".
The guide on the foot spreads the seams allowing you to stitch perfectly in the ditch, and is also useful when adding decorative top stitching along seams.
What is "Stitch-in-the-Ditch" anyway?
The term "Stitch-in-the-Ditch" refers to a particular technique (most commonly applies of machine quilting) that gives an illusion of being invisible, because the stitches are neatly positioned right next to where two seams join (and that's where the "ditch" refers to).
When this is stitched through multiple layers (say, a quilt sandwich consists of quilt top + batting + backing), the fullness in the batting creates shadow and that makes the stitching even less visible.
This is a great technique to enhence your quilt block by highlighting the piecing. Have a look:
This photo here is a great example of how quilt-in-the-ditch should look.
This foot goes onto your machine just like any other clip-on or snap-on presser foot. It is designed to fit most domestic machines.
When you try to quilt-in-the-ditch WITHOUT a Ditch Quilting Foot, you will find:
- The stitches do not stay in the actual "ditch"....
- Instead, they go over the edge of your seams....
- Worse of all, it's very likely that you will be unhappy enough to unpick these stray stitches and start again! Not fun.....
Because your regular presser foot offers NO guidance to the exact location of your ditch - that means you can just as easily go over the seams while you stitch along and trying stay straight (missing the whole point of quilting in-the-ditch).
This is the reason why most machine quilters DO NOT offer quilting-in-the-ditch as part of their services.... so chances are, you will have to find an easy and reliable way to do it yourself.
So, What's a Quilter to Do?
And Experience The Difference For Yourself...!
Not a Quilter?
You will still find your Ditch Stitching Foot extremely useful:
Also great for finishing bias bindings:
Note: photo shown for usage only. The foot used here is NOT a dtich quilting foot.
"I had not sewn in a while and decided it was time I treat myself a new wardrobe of handmade outfits.Very ambitious to say the least.
This was one of the products that made the results look professional, really useful when I do top stiching. I can then move the needle to do edge stiching. What a fantastic thing. Really has improved the look of my sewing, and is a nice, quality item.
When you are trying sew inside of a seam such as going acoss the shoulder on a sleeveless shirt to hold the facing in, just pop this on, put a little tension on your fabric to open the seam a bit and go for it!
The foot has a little plow that runs along in front of the needle so that creates a well-hidden stitch inside the seam. I love it."
