Is this a Genuine Janome Foot?
Unlike some others in the market, this foot is made by the same people that makes Janome sewing machine parts. At the same factory where Janome gets their parts made and packaged - located only a few minutes down the road from Janome's own factory.
This company is a third-generation family business that specialises in presser feet and parts. They are one of the few certified makers for Janome, Brother, Singer, Pfaff and others. If Janome and other brands can trust them - you can trust the quality too.
I've personally visited the factory to verify for myself. I was genuinely impressed because of their a high quality assurance standard - specified by Janome Japan - the parent company of Janome Australia.
The only difference is in the packaging. I'm calling mine "generic" because we had ours packaged under our own brand.
This means I'm 100% happy and confident that you and your sewing machine are in safe hands - because I recommend this foot to all my students, and use it for my own sewing too!
So do our happy customers - here's just one of many reviews:
Just want to say a Huge belated 'Thank You'.... I waited to try your foot first... because I previously bought a 'cheap' (very cheap) foot a few weeks ago elsewhere... and it broke after a few uses.
Your foot feels solid and seems much better quality...and works a lot smoother...and you posted it out so fast I got my project finished quickly....so Thank You!!"

This Narrow Hem Foot is ideal for finishing all hems and edges.
This nifty little hemmer foot - sometimes referred to as the rolled hemmer or narrow hemmer - is used to stitch the narrow rolled hems usually found on shirt tails, table linens and along the edge of frills.
The rolled hem foot is designed with a scroll shaped feeder on top and a straight groove on the underside which determines the width of the finished hem.
Sometimes called an "Rolled Hem Foot", the uniquely shaped front ensures an even 3mm finish to your narrow hem, while making sure that your fabric is fed correctly and gets stitched down securely.
The bottom of the foot has a narrow and smooth indentation, which allows your finished hem to glide under the foot without dragging.
This foot goes onto your machine just like any other screw-on presser foot. It is designed to fit most domestic machines.
What does "Low Shank" and "High Shank" mean?
It means "shank height" or "shank size".
Most domestic machines have LOW shanks.
Just to give you an idea, we sell about 10 low shank presser feet to ONE high shank foot. That means if you don't know what sort of shank your machine has, it probably has a low shank.
Because High Shank machines are generally "fancy" embroidery models which are more costly, and those who invest in these models tend to know exactly what shank type it is.
An Rolled Hem Foot will give your work a professional finish.
With no hand sewing required, you will be amazed at how much you can do by machine!
Sure, there are LOTS of different methods of finishing your raw edges - you can blind hem, overlocked and then fold over twice, use a contrast fabric, or even leaving it raw....
But there are many cases where you simply cannot beat a classic rolled hem - all smooth, neat, and incredibly narrow. Think silk scarf, shirt tails and ruffles!
And then imagine how fiddly and tedious it would be to try and finish these by hand.....
Of course, the more you practice, the more comfortable you will become...
See this detailed description from a happy customer:
"Just got this foot in the mail today and I love it.
This foot goes on to all of my machines. It does take a little bit of practice, but it is easy to use once you've figure it out.
Getting it started could be a little tricky, so try this:
Place the fabric under the foot about a 1/8" from the back of this foot and make 3-4 straight stitches. Then remove fabric from under the foot. HOLD the threads tightly and pull them through the scroll of the front of this foot and pulling the area you are hemming to the back of the foot. Lower the foot.
NEXT: once you have the hem started to roll over, lower the needle down into the fabric. Hold the hem you are making with both hands, guiding the outside edge of the hem to the right side of the foot extension, guide the rolled part to the left side of the foot.
SEW SLOWLY to start. Keep the distance of the fold that is rolling even with the space between the 2 sides of this foot to make this hem equal.
Use a medium stitch length and if necessary you can adjust the needle position to catch the edge on the left hand side of the hem so it makes a nice even hem.
I also sometimes will also use a small zig-zag stitch for the hem with this little foot. Makes the hem look like a scalloped edge on bed linens or little girls dresses.
It is not that difficult, as with any project you are making, practice will give you the best results.
NOTE curved hemlines do take a little bit of more manipulation of the fabric used in the fold to make it just right. I use this foot for straight edges on ruffles before gathering them. Makes a very nice tiny stitched hem."
